A magical playground

Dear Mr Harper,
It’s Monday morning, we’re up early and are making our way back to Bella Bella after a weekend of exploring the Goose Group. The sun is shining and we feel its’ warmth for the first time in a while. I’d like to say summer is here, but don’t want to jinx it…
We are crossing Queen Sound and notice some mayhem in the distance. Dolphins, hundreds of them are playing and dancing amidst a few whales which are putting on an equally impressive show, fluking and breeching. As we get nearer, the dolphins start to surf under our bow and in our wake. They are everywhere. We kill the engine and drop our hydrophone into the water. As the dolphins dance around us, we can now hear them laugh and giggle under the sea. Pure Magic.

And what would come of these magnificent creatures should supertankers become a regular occurrence in this area? They certainly wouldn’t find it to be such a heavenly playground any longer…
For the coast,
Sarah and Mike
